Re: Easy Sarah Questions

Gday Bingo. There are other forums like this? That can provide even more information? The Gougeon Brother on Boat Construction? never heard of it. Where do you get it? Better I resolve to the other resources you are talking about because I'm clearly not going to find anything useful in this discuss...

Re: Easy Sarah Questions

It would actually make more sense to use foam in the decks rather than the hulls. There are far more fittings and penetrations, and fresh water is much more destructive to wood than seawater is.

Re: Schionning 12.3

And I don’t know about other builders but the last week was not pleasant. I don’t usually stress a lot but I could hardly eat for the past week and felt nauseous most of the time. And had neck pain. Now all that is gone. So it’s an interesting mix of emotions launch week. And once in and sea trials...

Re: Schionning 12.3

My guesstimate on usage was not scientific and on reflection perhaps closer to 3 litres per hour (24l tanks not full to top, after 7 hrs topped up and were not yet empty and topped up about 1/4 tank each). I refueled the tanks underway so did not accurately meas...

Re: Schionning 12.3

Congrats Paul. We've had our disagreements, but I'd still like to say, well done on getting her launched!

It's a real achievement, and something to be proud of.

Must be the time of year, we launched Jan 25, eight years ago.

Re: Sarah 41

Depending on the design it might be necessary to adjust the position of a window. Not really a big deal.

The advantages outweigh that by a big margin, IMO.

Re: Sarah 41

I would never do stainless Steel chainplates after having fibreglass ones. There are no downsides. They'll last longer than the boat, never leak, no worries about crevice corrosion. You could use carbon fibre, but for a cruising boat, I don't really see the value over fibreglass. You might save a co...
