Re: MV catapult

Gerald - ive priced out a few 12V motors and theyre pretty expensive - likely because they are not manufactured in the sort of quantities that 240vac induction motors are. So by using a 12v motor- you end up almost the same price as using a 3phase induction motor on a variable speed drive. are you ...

Re: MV catapult

Yeh Groper, I've been doing some searching and have found that they are very exy. I'll check out the 240v system again and sit on it for a few days to think about it. Thanks heaps for your help, Gerald.

Re: MV catapult

That sounds great Groper (2540+300w motor). I'll do some searches and see what I come up with, just one question , What is the model cat pump that you based your calcs on? (I will go back through this thread as you've probably mentioned it before, Is this the system that you are using for your boat?...

Re: MV catapult

Yeh Groper, I got a reply from them and it states that what you say is true about the small flow, extra salinity and also shortened membrane life. Do you know if that smaller cat pump is more powerful than the one they use on the h2o to go unit, and if it would be compatible with the 2540 membrane a...

Re: MV catapult

thanks guys for the extra info, I'll get in touch with 'h20 to go' and ask them about the 2540 membrane. Whats the difference between this membrane and the twin membranes they are using now and why would it be cheaper and produce more water? Hey Groper, I heard that Supercheap Auto are doing hose co...

Re: MV catapult

Thanks heaps Groper for all of the info. At the moment I have two agm batteries,150 and 120 and I don't want to get any more as I like to keep it simple, so I guess I was dreaming about the 240v system. I am still very interested in the 12v system, are they simple and cheaper to put together than th...

Re: MV catapult

Thanks for your reply. Yes, if I go for the 240v watermaker the large inverter would be just for it as I already own a smaller inverter for lower draw items. I think I'll have to talk to an expert before I commit to buying the 240v unit. Cheers, Gerald.
