Re: 15.

I thought I was blunt, but "despise" is very harsh.
I think it looks cool, and anything that melts your wife's clothing can't be a bad thing.

Re: Scarf vs. butt plate

The original question referred to hull and decks which are all stringers with the ply attatched, so there is no, or almost no bending. A scarf joint will reduce the yield of your ply by whatever the length of the scarf is, so a 1200 mm sheet becomes 1050 or 1100 mm sheet. It takes more time compared...

Re: Sarah electric drive??

Hi Dean, I have Honda extra long shaft with power tilt. At the time they were lighter than the 9.9 Yam as well as power tilt. The 50% extra power doesn't result in a 50% speed increase, maybe a knot, but I wanted the power tilt. The only problem I have had was with the extra long shaft they have a a...

Re: Sarah electric drive??

I am sure in the future it will be possible to power a water ski boat with electric power and a single small panel, however we are a long way from that. I just don't get the electric thing. They make dangerously low levels of power, for a very short time and at huge expense and require huge amounts ...

Re: Sarah 41

Hi Dean, I did my dash, dining table, electrical cupboard doors and the HWS cupboard door all in carbon fiber, and yes they look cool. There are photos on the Leslie James pages. If you do it, make sure you paint whatever you are doing with black paint first as it looks much blacker and deeper. Chee...

Re: 15.

Looks awesome, and huge. I remember painting my boat, I had a lot of trouble seeing the "wet area", just too much white. I had low mounted lights, high mounted, lights everywhere at different times. Any other colour I am OK with, but I really struggle with white.

Re: Internet/satphone Weather

Up here in Cairns I only use Seabreeze. BOM forecasts are useless. If sailing days were based on BOM forecasts I for one would never leave the marina. I only use the BOM weather station on Arlington Reef (Green Island), which has hourly updates on wind strength, and which seems to be accurate. I use...
