Re: outboards

Wow David no wonder nobody really knows off the cuff. Just looked at your calculator link. Surprised they dont need the skippers jock size, they ask just about everything else.

Re: outboards

David my dilemma is that in a budget prop it seems I have to choose which parameter I prefer. I can have the max diameter of 11 3/4 with a pitch of 9 1/4 or even cheaper is a smaller diameter of 9 1/2 with better (for torque) pitch of 7. Price goes up dramatically if I want both larger diameter and ...

Re: Hydraulic Steering

A question to the users who fitted (uflex) hydraulic with the semi flexible 3/8" ID nylon hose. How did you find the brass olive fitting system, did it seal easily and well (durable) and how has it worn? I had intended to have rubber reinforced hoses made to guard against chafing but cant believe th...

Re: Resin coat before high build

Tend to agree with Allan. There seems significant over engineering from designers and suppliers. I was told all powder based bogs but west moreso was porous and highbuild needed to seal it. Under my waterline the bog is whisper thin so too the hb but regardless its over 4 layers of resin soaked glas...

Re: outboards

Sorry Allan just to clarify, largest diameter that fits albeit if the pitch is also slightly larger is preferable over smaller pitch albeit also with smaller diameter? Just trying to ascertain which variable diameter or pitch has the greater influence on our situation.

Re: SSL Domain

I have more news on this as it has been happening again. Apparently the cause is that the internet standard is changing from ipv4 to ipv6 and foxtel (Telstra) has already changed but this sites service provider may not have and neither has Optus who my phone is on. So Optus and this site still speak...

Re: Resin coat before high build

I can't speak to the chemistry but there is definitely a difference between how they mix up in the same resin, how they last in the pot, how they sand and the way bubbles form in the setting bog.

Re: outboards

I have a question I cant seem to get a straight answer on, perhaps it really is because there is no straight answer. I asked 6 different people so far, some dealers, and get 7 different responses. The one unanimous reply though is you have to try each option for yourself and see which works best for...

Re: Resin coat before high build

Yeah I think you are pretty much on it. The bog they and I have mostly used is q cell in epoxy resin. I pretty much stopped using west bog (I think I still have a pillow of it) after the underwater sections which I did resin coat pre hb (and my antifoul is resin with copper anyway). I switched to qc...

Re: Resin coat before high build

I have seen 2 cats leave my shed both by pro fairers and painters and neither had resin applied before highbuild it went on straight over bog. Bear in mind both also got about 5 coats of highbuild with a fairing sand in between. If they sanded through the hb they sprayed another coat. Then I think t...
