Re: Schionning wilderness 1100 - partial

Hi Darren, So glad Max's boat will get the finish his earlier work deserves, I am very sad for Max and Elsie, good luck if you are reading Max, maybe you will sail with me one day when I finally launch. I have larger than spec rudders. Some early bi rigs reported stalling in a tack so we upped the r...

Re: Plumbing...

I built sumps under the soles (one in each hull). I have everything drain to the sumps then have bilge pumps with float switches to pump up to a holding tank in each hull, which then has a gravity out via a stop valve, in case grey water overboard is not permitted in some areas. I built oversized su...

Re: Fairing thickness

I have sanded one side of the curved hull sides. Last week was stinking hot here, got nothing done. Put me about a week behind my New Years schedule. I wanted to have the hull sides finished by end of Jan, but I still have to sand the other curved side, then pinhole and scar fill then final sand. Ab...

Re: Fairing thickness

Ok, yesterday I spent our national day fairing the last of the bog beads and then backfilling to them. Although the pics dont tell the whole story, I am quite happy I now have the curved deck sides faired. The pics below are just after finishing the bogging so its still wet, and of course i still ha...

Re: 15.

2 months ago I was feeling sorry for myself because I had crossed the 10 year mark and was still at it. I am now more than half way through (say 2/3) the fairing and will launch later this year. I snapped out of it because I was reminded there were people out there standing their first bulkheads.

Re: MV catapult

Sorry Gerald, didnt mean to confuse you. My understanding of electrics is not great so I may have been way off in that rather flippant comment. Whilst I think you are right that if the draw is much less after start up then you wont be draining the battery at the rate that say the full 8000w would dr...

Re: Fairing thickness

The layer of bog below was sanded, I had a go at filling some lows as I found them but in the end gave up trying to get it fair that way and switched to the bog beads. It was just all over the place before. Now I know that the beads are sanded fair. The entire panel was initially bogged straight ont...

Re: Fairing thickness

I thought I would revisit the subject of notched trowel bog beads mentioned above as I am doing this now. Stefan launched a few years ago and did a fantastic job, I have only seen photos, but it looks as good as any launches I have seen in pic form recently so the method is proven. Schionning (Stefa...

Re: 15.

I am going to be using a stipple finish spray product to cover up the underside of my bridgedeck, hides a lot of stuff. (it is similar to body deadener but white) Just like Pure Majek and Martica have used, comes up brilliantly. Thanks John John, what is the paint called and can it be rolled on. I ...
