Re: Cruising Catamarans and Apparent Wind
I would agree with all of the above posts - in theory it will be often better but in practice it may not be. Most cruising cats are still not performance oriented enough for "heating it up" downwind to make much difference, and the speed increase you see will not justify the extra distance travelled...

Re: Sailing North on McMoggy
Sitting in Bundaberg River at the moment after a nice lightning show with 35knot gusts and plenty of nearby flashes - not much fun after an 86 mile day! Oh well! Heading south again after another great season up north.

Probably wouldn't get a good weight reading on that size travel lift anyway - it would only just be registering on the scale they have so could be out by 1t or more.
Good to give it a swim!

Re: Plumbing...
Ditto with the quick connect. For the shower sump drain, rather than a seperate through hull consider plumbing it into a Y piece with the bathroom sink drain - this is how mine is and works well, only thing you notice is a gurgling noise in the sink when the pump runs. Desalinators don't need auto f...

Re: Heading North
Well - we had a fantastic Brisbane to Gladstone race on McMoggy. For a first time Gladstone run for the boat and the majority of the crew we couldn't really ask for anything more. This race had a bit of everything - a highly entertaining start with the rule book thrown out of the window on a fair fe...

Heading North
Well - the year is rolling by and it comes that time when the cruisers start to head north again. I set off tomorrow - starting this years trip north by sailing from Brisbane to Gladstone as fast as I can in the company of some other avid multihullers. Hopefully the weather gods are kind to us and w...
