Re: Outboards are a target for theft?
I wouldn't worry either - I wish my outboards were quick and simple to get out of their wells but they're definitely not! Thiefs will go for the easiest target - grabbing an outboard off a tender or the whole tender / outboard package will always be easier than getting on to a yacht and trying to wo...

Re: McMoggy
No not me James. Must have been another fast cat. Don't worry Alan - I've been going past lots of mono's - the Surf to City has a monohull fleet that started 15 mins before the multis and within an hour we had passed half of them upwind. And these are all pretty serious racing boats. By the end of t...

Re: McMoggy
A quick update on what McMoggy and I have been up to since the last posts in July last year. My girlfriend and I cruised north for around 6 weeks and then competed in the Airlie Beach Race Week where after a week of excellent sailing we were thrilled to take out first place overall in the Performanc...

Re: Schionning GForce 1500C
The C version of the GForce is built to meet CE requrments for sale in Europe. Part of this requires a (probably excessively) higher impact resistance of the panels which has the result of adding weight - hence why the displacement is higher for the C models than the standard 1500 in Australia. They...

Re: Sailing North on McMoggy
Thought I would give a brief update - as there are a few people cruising around up north at the moment from here. I started bringing McMoggy back down south over the last few weeks as the winds and cruising desires allowed. The boat is currently sitting in Yeppoon waiting for a nice northerly window...

Re: Boom Vang
Agree - in a multi the width of available traveller really is more effective in allowing you control of the shape of the sail than a vang is. In a mono where the traveller, even when fully let out, doesn't always change the boom position much - you have no real way of holding the boom down when the ...

Re: Multihull racing forum?
Looking through the headings that currently exist on the forum - while there is a grouping of headings called "Sailing Related" there isn't actually a forum for "Sailing Techniques" or anything similar. Maybe this is the heading that is missing - under this there could then be individual threads rel...

Re: Sailing North on McMoggy
The inflatable is a 10ft Aquapro with a Tohatsu 9.8hp. I think this is a pretty good combination - still (just) light enough to be dragged up a steep beach by one person (wheels definitely help - make sure you get the widest ones!) but powerful enough to get around for some serious exploring, gear c...
