Sailing North on McMoggy

Due to some requests, and because the forum has been a bit slow on trip reports of late - I thought I would post some (OK - a lot) pics of my latest trip up the coast. After buying McMoggy earlier this year and spending a bit of time learning the boat around Moreton Bay, I set off for six weeks crui...

Re: Anchors

Any money that you spend on anchors will not be wasted! Don't put a plough on your boat! I have one on McMoggy and have dragged twice up the coast and that is just unacceptable. Any of the new generation anchors are so much better. I have a Lewmar Delta arriving soon and can't wait for it to get her...

Re: Airlie Beach Race Week 2012

After a great week and fantastic regatta with some of the best sailing days that the Whitsundays offers up - Mc Moggy took out first place overall in Performance Multihulls division. To say I am happy is an understatement! We had some fantastic sails and, other than losing a spinnaker halyard just a...

Re: Airlie Beach Race Week 2012

Mc Moggy is sitting 1st for the series at this stage after 2 wins and 5 days of incredible sailing. I have been accused of having a "Watermelon Grin" - ear to ear. 18.5 knots under kite today was special but every day so far has been fantastic!

One day to go - everything is crossed!

Re: dunking the outboard

Good to hear you arrived safely 44c - certainly plenty of wind around over the last few weeks.

Re: SV Leslie James Easy 37 #22

Phillip - I would agree with Jim re bouyancy - the Easy's have plenty enough bouyancy in the bows to remain safe in almost any conditions you are likely to be in - keep in mind the rig is quite conservative so you don't drive the boat as hard as many cats - the light weight of the design means it st...

Re: McMoggy

There is a hatch forward of the anchor - but still in line with the forward over-bridgedeck cabins. The bridle lines feed back to here so you can attach the bridle hook to the chain inside this locker. I have rigged another short strop rope to hold the load off the winch if required. Space is tight ...

I'm pretty sure it's legit . . . :?

Just sailed back into mobile range after a few fantastic weeks between Yeppoon and Mackay.

Airlie Beach Race Week 2012

Unfortunately the Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous, which I have participated in several times over the years, is not running this year due to time constraints of the club committee. However to accommodate us multi owners who are cruising up the coast and want to have a few hot(ish) laps of a race ci...
