Re: Sarah 41

I did exactly as you are planning. Built everything I could in a tin shed before putting up the shelter to put it all together. Next year I will be on the water (thinking positive) - somewhere along the east coast. So where I'll be will depend on what time of year you plan to be in Oz. One thing's ...

Re: Sarah 41

That's 2 down - well done. I presume the bridgedeck is next on the build list? Apologies for not being able to make the 28th - not exactly a weekend trip away for me. Good luck with the move. David I would love to see you and pick your brain. You probably have a wealth of knowledge I could learn fr...

Re: Schionning 12.3

Congratulations my friend. I try to look ahead and imagine what it will feel like to launch but I’m thinking it will be far far better than anything I could imagine!! Would love to come visit from America but at this time all the money is going into the boat. Nice pics of the boat on the water. Any ...

Re: Sarah 41

Of course I’m not at that stage yet but I’m planning for it now so when I get there I’ll be ready. Thank for your HO’s. I am also looking at a carbon fiber tube for the shaft that ties the rudders together. The cost of aluminum +modifications vs carbon fiber is a wash but the weight savings if huge....

I would never do stainless Steel chainplates after having fibreglass ones. There are no downsides. They'll last longer than the boat, never leak, no worries about crevice corrosion. You could use carbon fibre, but for a cruising boat, I don't really see the value over fibreglass. You might save a c...

Re: Sarah 41

I’ll have to run this by Peter but in the mean time I’d like some feedback on composite chain plates.
