Re: Schionning wilderness 1100 - partial

I sprayed 2pak PU all through the interior. The key for me was to firstly suit up in disposable overalls, then setup really good ventialtion using one of those extraction fans with a length of consertina flexible duct. Id start spraying near the duct and work my way back away from it so the overspra...

Re: Sarah electric drive??

Thanks Darren, I'm new to all this, wind, diesel, electric etc. The Sarah designer suggests two 9.9 Yamaha so consequently I have to carry gasoline anyway . I am wondering how big of a generator and fuel tank I will need to be useful. Here is a link to a EP I have been looking at. Now I have more q...

Re: Sarah electric drive??

It can be done reasonably lightweight already - lighter than outboards?- No, but still doable on decent size cat if you really wanted to for a similar kind of weight as a twin diesel saildrive setup would be. The downside is the cost... huge costs if you want to do it properly... I dont really see t...

Re: MV catapult

Yes Alan, I will re prop it if the exisiting ones are not suitable, these props came with the motors so I figure I'll just see how they go first and go from there. They are 13 7/8 x 21" and the boat that these motors came off had a top speed of 35kts at WOT and correct rpm. I think that's a lit...

Re: MV catapult

So, we got a crane in and lifted the boat up and dropped it back down on some 200L drums in preparation to paint the underside and antifouling. I asked the crane operator how much it weighed, he said 2.9 tonne. So i was pretty close in my estimations and design goals. Im about 200-300kg more than wh...

Re: MV catapult

Gerald - ive priced out a few 12V motors and theyre pretty expensive - likely because they are not manufactured in the sort of quantities that 240vac induction motors are. So by using a 12v motor- you end up almost the same price as using a 3phase induction motor on a variable speed drive. are you s...
