Composting toilets

Post by Trev » Wed May 19, 2010 8:36 pm

Hi everyone

Someone suggested to me that fitting a composting toilet in one hull would be a way around having to install black water tanks and associated plumbing to comply to regulations? i.e. have a normal marine toilet in one hull and a composting toilet in the other and forget about black water tanks, pumps, etc.

Anyone have any thoughts? would this satisfy the authorities?

Hi Terryk,

I really don't know much about these toilets but one local cat owner installed one, and now another 2 have followed. I don't know the exact unit they have but I have attached a link to a composting marine toilet toilet I found on google, but there may be better ones?

I really didn't like the sound of them at first but as a 2nd toilet which enables you to do away with the cost and hassle of storing black water, it may have some merit?

Apologies for slow response but I just got back from the boat show.

Hi,

I just had another look at the site I provided the link to, and I doubt that is the unit, they were not anything like that price. I will get the brand off them next time I see them.

Hi

Here is the link to the composting toilets, for anyone thats interested. I know I asked before, but would anyone know if these toilets would satisfy the authorities if I had a standard macerating toilet in the other hull, and didn't have a holding tank?

There is an Yahoo group related to this.

groups (dot) yahoo (dot) com/group/compost-toilet_info/?yguid=326868893

replace the (dot) with a .
