Hi builders,
I am hearing conflicting views regarding the use of escape hatches, Has anyone have any opinions or advice either for or against their use or placement?
I like the thought of having another opening for ventilation and light, but what concerns me is that, if left accidentally open while at sea it could flood the boat?

Re: Escape hatch
Hi Trevor
In Aus, it's a survey requirement and you will find on all charter yachts. My unreliable source also says that there are specifics in size, strength and position.

James,
I had always intended to install a escape hatch in each hull until talking to Steve Morris from Lewmar and he told me Lewmar no longer make an escape hatch because of the risk of flooding a boat?
