gas detector

Post by terryk » Mon Oct 06, 2014 9:53 am

Hi builders, I am just about to install a DVK lpg gas detector for the stove. Where do I place the sensor? on the floor under the stove or under the gas connection point?
Cheers

Gas is heavier than air, therefore the lowest point in the galley. It will then sense any leaks, not just at the connection point. If you have the galley area leading to a room in that hull, then closer to the room side at floor level in the galley.

The sensor end tends to go U/S every two or so years, so I always carry a spare sensor end. Wait for the specials at Whitworths and grab a spare. FYI, it also goes off with other gases, i.e. unleaded fuel etc (as we found out leaving the gennie in there one day during a clean-out).
