Coongul creek, Fraser Island.

Tips to other sailors. Or just a great spot for a visit.

Great place for cats. Exploit your shallow draught, and drying out capabilities.

Entrance looks narrow, but is wide enough. Enter at high tide, obviously.

Good fishing, you can pump yabbies for bait right next to the boat, stroll down the beach to the mouth of the creek and pretty much keep yourself fed on whiting, bream and flathead.

Geez I don't know Alan - you spend all that time working towards launching the boat and the first thing you do is go and put it back on dry ground again!!

Looks like a nice spot - great to be out and about enjoying the fruits of your labours.

LOL! That's exactly what my wife said!

One thing I should point out - you need insect screens at Coongul!

Yes - I had to dig out the mozzie screen for the saloon door once I came down to the Sandy Straits - the only other place I've needed it as much is in the back of Hinchinbrook!

You've got me.

Had a chat to another cat builder today who told me that this a 'Cat' gem. Will be there in 3 to 4 weeks and try and add to the photos.

Just remember - take insect screens! It is a great spot, but with all the rain we've had this summer the mozzies have just been unbelievable.

You get marsh flies there too. Well, pretty much anywhere on Fraser.

Also, with this current bout of rain and wind, some fallen trees could be hanging around the entrance. Good idea to do a low tide survey if you can. It looks very skinny to get in, but it was quite easy.

We will be going there in the next few weeks and appreciate the 'mozzie attack' data. We are in the middle of a flyscreen overhaul, so we should find out soon enough if we did a good job.

Any visits by Dingos? apparently one does frequent that area. Also, are the two miniature lead poles stiff around or have they been pulled.

Thanks for the feedback.
